Jacob “Jake” Smith
Background
Jake grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, where he was an Eagle Scout and state champion track and cross country runner. His parents instilled the values of hard work, integrity, and problem-solving at an early age when he would help his father as a handyman during his summer breaks.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate law degree from the Charleston School of Law.
Jake began his legal career working in Workers’ Compensation Defense, where he learned the ins and outs of insurance companies and the field of workers’ compensation. He went on to develop his courtroom and litigation skills as a Public Defender in Sumter County. Since his work as a Public Defender, he has been working in private practice, primarily focused on representing injured workers.
Jake is married to his wife Lauren, who works for the State of South Carolina. They have three children: Eleanor, Tristan and Miriam. Jake and his family are proud residents of Lexington, South Carolina.
